🌿 Discover Iquitos: A journey through living culture and wild nature

🗺️ Itinerary: Cultural and Natural Iquitos

We will begin this fascinating tour at 7:00 a.m., when our guide will pick you up from your hotel to start a day full of history, culture, and Amazonian nature.

🛍️Belén Market and Pasaje Paquito

Our first stop will be the iconic Belén Market, one of the most traditional markets in the Amazon. Here, you will find an amazing variety of regional products: exotic fruits, unique fish, medicinal herbs, and much more.

Inside the market, we will visit the famous Pasaje Paquito, known as “the jungle pharmacy.” This unique passage offers natural remedies made from Amazonian plants and, in some cases, animal-derived products. We will also have the chance to learn about and taste some of the region’s most popular aphrodisiac drinks. An unmissable experience!

🏛️ Casa Morey and Ayapúa Boat

We will continue our tour visiting Casa Morey, an elegant building from the rubber boom era, now one of the city’s most important hotels. Next, we will explore the Ayapúa Boat, one of the first boats to navigate the Amazon River, restored and transformed into a floating museum that showcases the region’s riverine history.

🏙️ Historic Center of Iquitos

From there, we will walk to the Plaza de Armas, where our guide will share a historical account of Iquitos’ origins and development. We will visit emblematic monuments such as the Main Church, the Iron House — designed by Gustave Eiffel — the former Hotel Palace, and other architectural gems from the rubber boom era.

🧬 Museum of Indigenous Cultures of the Amazon

Our next stop will be the Museum of Indigenous Cultures, a space that preserves the memory and art of the native peoples of the Peruvian jungle. Through a brief guided visit, we will learn about their worldviews, customs, clothing, tools, and artistic expressions.

🍽️ Lunch

We will take a break to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in the city center, where you can savor the best of regional cuisine.

🐢 Amazon Rescue Center – CREA

After lunch, we will head to the Amazon Rescue Center (CREA), one of the region’s most outstanding conservation projects. Here, we will learn about their work rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing endangered species, especially Amazonian manatees, among others. We will also discover how this initiative began and its impact on raising awareness about biodiversity conservation.

🐾 Iquitos Zoo and Natural Lagoon

Our last stop will be the Quistococha Zoo, where we can observe a wide variety of neotropical species, many of them endemic to the Peruvian Amazon. This extensive park also features a beautiful natural lagoon with an artificial beach, perfect for relaxing, swimming, and enjoying nature until sunset.

We will return to the city late in the afternoon, closing a day full of learning, cultural encounters, and connection with nature.

NOTE: Approximate arrival time back to the city: 5:00 p.m.
