Exploring part of an untouched forest
DAY ONE:
Connecting with local culture and meeting pink dolphins
Our trip begins at 9:00 a.m. We can pick you up from your hotel or the airport if your arrival is on the same day as the tour. A car ride of approximately 1.5 hours will end in the city of Nauta, the only city connected to Iquitos by road. Once in Nauta, a beautiful, comfortable, and traditional boat will be ready to take us to the Yarapa Communal Reserve, in the buffer zone of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, where our Ecolodge is located, in the middle of a beautiful jungle.
Depending on the season and weather conditions, it takes about 2.5 hours to reach our lodge. The edges of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve will allow us to enjoy the beauty of colorful birds, river dolphins, and, if we're lucky, a sloth hanging from the branches of the Punga trees (Pseudobombax munguba).
Puerto Miguel is a beautiful, quiet, welcoming, and well-organized community belonging to the Cocamas tribe. Despite having lost their ancestral customs, they still maintain interesting features, which our guide will explain to us during our visit this afternoon.
Hoping for a beautiful sunset, we'll head to the entrance of the Yarapa River to watch and swim surrounded by pink dolphins while enjoying the sunset.
We usually go for a walk after dinner. Tarantulas, scorpions, frogs, snakes, hundreds of insects, and a few other nocturnal creatures await us. You have to be ready to find them. The goal is to catch a giant frog. A prize will be awarded to whoever manages to catch the largest frog.
DAY TWO:
Deep exploration in Pacaya Samiria.
Today, after breakfast, we'll pack all our camping gear and head out to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. After an hour-long cruise on the Amazon River, we'll arrive at the Control and Surveillance Post where we'll present our entry permits to enter this protected area. The park ranger will give us a brief account of Pacaya Samiria.
We must continue our journey to Poza Cocha, a beautiful lake where we will camp. Our local guide will build a campfire to prepare our lunch.
After a short break, we'll take a boat trip around the lake to look for river otters.
The sunsets here are splendid and we will enjoy them from our boat.
Dinner will be served at our camp.
Tonight, our guide will take us on a hike in search of large rodents, snakes, scorpions, etc.
DAY THREE:
Encounter with howler monkeys and capybaras
Another day in the jungle, and we'll begin by watching the sunrise. There are groups of howler monkeys living around the lake, and their calls can be heard from far away. We'll do our best to see them. This is also an area where we can see birds such as howler monkeys, howler monkeys, howler monkeys, herons, hawks, kingfishers, seagulls, and more.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we'll take down our tents and travel deeper into the jungle to Cocha Cushuri. Along the way, we'll be able to see some squirrel monkeys and green iguanas.
Lunch will be prepared while we set up our tents.
There are specific places to go looking for giant otters and capybaras. Our local guide knows these places and will take us there.
We need to return to camp by sunset.
Tonight after dinner we will take a boat trip to see large alligators.
DAY FOUR:
Piranhas, anacondas and macaw clay lick
The morning begins with the songs of jungle birds. After breakfast, we leave Pacaya Samiria and sail back to the Yarapa Communal Reserve.
We'll arrive at Cocha Cumaceba , an ideal habitat for piranhas and, occasionally, anacondas , which rest near the shore. Here we'll set up camp and prepare for a fun Amazonian fishing session. Lunch will be prepared with our catch.
After lunch, we'll hike to a macaw clay lick , a gathering point for these birds, where you can also see toucans, woodpeckers, and even the imposing jungle condor. This environment is also a natural classroom: our guide will share knowledge about medicinal plants, such as the famous cat's claw (Uncaria tomentosa), a plant with multiple properties and water inside.
At dusk, we return to camp. Along the way, we may spot guapos, tamarins, and other tree species.
DAY FIVE:
Saying goodbye to the Pacaya Samiria jungle.
After breakfast we need to pack up all our camping gear and head back to the hostel.
Along the way, we'll pass a lagoon where we'll see the Victoria Regia, the largest aquatic plant in the world.
We should arrive at lunchtime.
Take a shower and return to Iquitos
NOTE: Arrival in the city will be approximately 6:30 p.m. All of our programs are flexible, and activities may change depending on weather conditions. We're ready for an unforgettable adventure!

-
Pack your luggage with the essentials and avoid carrying unnecessary things.
